Ararat-armenia Nigerian forward Yusuf Otubanjo receive is Golden Boot award for The year 2020/2021 season.



The former youth international  score 10 goals  last season to make him the  highest goal scorer last season. In a statement released on the team website,  " before our opening match of the season away against Alashket fc, our team striker Yusuf Otubanjo   receive the price for the *best bomber* of 2020/20 21 season for the premier league of Vbet  Armenian. 


Ararat Armenian  recorded there first away  victory of the 2021/2022  against Alashket fc by 0-3. Wilfred Eza opening the scoring via an assist from Otubanjo in the 62 min before the Nigerian international open his goal account for the season in the 67min. Artem Avanesyan make it 3 for the visitor in the 75min.

Speaking in an interview after the game, Otubanjo said he gives thanks to the Almighty Allah for starting the season on a victory away from home. "I want to give all the thanks to the Almighty Allah for last season. It is an honour to be crowned the highest goal scorer for last season. I want to thank my team mates, coaches family and friends for there prayers and Goodwill messages. I pray for an injury free  this season". He said 

When ask about is plan for the new season, Otubanjo said " it is the wish of every footballer mostly strikers to score more goals. of course I wish to win the award next season by more goals and hopefully it will happen. We want to win the league season and win every competition we are playing. We didn't finish where we wanted to finish well last season and we want to correct that this season". He concluded.


Yusuf Otubanjo what part of the Nigerian under-17 FIFA World cup runner-up in 2009. he started his career with Nigerian side Julius Berger Football club, gateway United FC, crown FC, atletico Madrid of Spain, FC Red bull Salzburg, FC Pasching, FC Blau-weib Linz Zilina, Sc Alyach, Lask Linz before joining Ararat Armenia in the 2019/2020 season.

Naija Ratels Thrash Lagos Based Side 6-0 in First Pre-Season Tour Match.

Naija Ratels beat Lagos based side Almighty Talent FC 6-0 as the NWFL Championship Champions got their Pre-Season preparation off to a Flying start on Wednesday at the National Stadium, Surulere (Legacy Pitch). 



The Ratels are on a two weeks pre-season tour of the South-West, where they will play 12 matches in Lagos, Osun, Ondo and Kogi, all in preparation for the Flying Officers Pre-Season Championship and the NWFL Premiership. 


Coach Bankole Olowookere lined up the team in the unexpected 1-4-4-2 formation, which had new recruits Bankole Sofiat and Ojo Fehinti pairing upfront with supports from Emmanuel Blessing and Dzer Josephine.



The Starting XI: Ohia Doris, Olonilua Adenike, Iheoma Chinyere, Oyinlola Olamide, Ali Paulina (C), Oluwaseun Temilade, Emmanuel Blessing, Bankole Sofiat, Ojo Fehinti, Peter Favour, Dzer Josephine. 


Ojo Fehinti started the rout after she opened scoring in the 17th minute, through a well taken effort from close range, with Midfielder Favour Peter quickly adding another one in the  22nd minute.



Josephine Dzer made it three in the 41st minute Fehinti had put her through with only the goalkeeper to beat, defender Adenike Olonilua scored the 4th in the 45th minute of the encounter.


The last two goals came in through two new entrants Adeola Omowodun and Janet Ikpa in the 54th and 59th minute respectively to give Naija Ratels a deserving 6-0 victory.



The 'One Day At A Time' Ladies will continue their Pre-Season tour of the South-West with a game against Dannaz Ladies, Oasis Ladies, FC Robo Queens and Eko Football Women Selected side all in Lagos. Then they play Osun Babes at the Osogbo City Stadium (August 5), Sunshine Queens at Ondo State Sports Complex (August 6) and Confluence Queens at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja (August 7).

"Win Olympic Gold And Get SUV" - Gusau


Good times await Nigerian sprinter Enoch Olaolu Adegoke if he wins gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.



The President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria Engr Shehu Ibrahim Gusau promised Adegoke a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV if he wins a gold medal at the Games which starts July 23 to August 8, 2021

During an elaborate send forth ceremony held by the Edo State Government for its athlete, Enoch Adegoke on Tuesday, Gusau said the gesture is his little way of motivating the athlete participating in the track and field events.

Gusau who was part of the virtual ceremony via Zoom said that if Adegoke wins any other medal apart from gold, he will still receive a surprise gift from him.

“Olympics is a big stage where every qualified athlete is motivated to go for gold and we need to motivate them more.

“I am talking about a tear rubber SUV, not a fairly used vehicle. If he wins any other medal, the AFN will give him a gift.”

Gusau who has continued to successfully steer athletics resurgence said that as a man of his words, all athletes under the AFN’s umbrella should be assured of a big package after their Olympics exploits.

“I promised Blessing Okagbare during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and it was redeemed. This cannot be different,"

He thanked the Edo State Government for their continued support towards Nigerian athletes and grassroots development.

 Edo State Government has presented Adegoke with 10,000 dollars as upkeep during the games.

Gov. Dapo Abiodun Drums Support for Airtel Ijebu Heritage Half Marathon

Executive Governor of Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has expressed love for road races and the commitment of his administration to empower and engage the youths. 



Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Honorable commissioner of sports, Dr. Dare Kehinde said sports is one of the 5-cardinal point agendas of the administration. According to him, “When the Governor came on board, 5-cardinal point agenda which one of it is youths engagement and empowerment and one of the ways to engage the youths is to create an enabling environment for any sports activities to thrive” 


He confirmed that all the road races in Ogun State, Abeokuta marathon, Remo Ultra marathon, and Ijebu Heritage Half marathon are now fixed events under the sports calendar in the state and emphasized the support of the Governor for the road races. 


He continued, “These activities is already in our work plan for the year and Ijebu Heritage marathon captures the plans of the Governor“.


Hon. Olopade expressed appreciation to the Ogun State government for their unflinching support towards the Ijebu Heritage Half marathon race right from its conception. “We thank the Ogun State government through the ministry of sports for also endorsing and supporting this race in so many ways,” he said


The Ijebu Heritage Half Marathon is scheduled for 17th July 2021. The route starts at Tunde Debasco Road, Ejirin and ends at Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium. The event consists of three races, the Half Marathon, 10KM and 5KM Fun Run.


The event is endorsed by World Athletics, the International Association of International Marathons and Distance Races and Athletics Federation of Nigeria. 40 Elite Runners have been confirmed for the race.



The Half Marathon is organized by the prestigious Heritage Group and is greatly supported by Ogun State Government.


“The Governor is improving infrastructure in terms of road constructions and creating enabling environment to have this type of sporting competition” he said.

 First Bank Consolidates, As Amazons, Warriors bag First win at the Dr. & Mrs. D.K Olukoya Women's Basketball Championship.




On a glamorous day 3 of proceedings at the inaugural Dr. & Mrs. D.K Olukoya Women's Basketball Championship in Lagos. Powerhouse First Bank Basketball club dimed the light of Sunshine Angels with an emphatic 52-36 points win. The Lateef Erinfolami led Elephant girls knocked off a rusty start with just 8 points in the first quarter (8-16), however, reacted to some hair drier treatment after a time out to take a 26-19 advantage into the halftime break. Inspired by John Grace and Murijanatu Musa who put up 15 & 12 points respectively. Sunshine's fightback in the 3rd and 4th quarter (11-12); ( 6-17) could help keep the Akure side off the jaws of defeat.




In the other games, two teams battling for their first win of the tournament between Raptors Girls of Surulere and War Queens of Sango Ota. The Stadium girls as they are fondly called were the more composed of the two sides bagging a 63-48 points win over the Peter Akindele tutored team. The young War Queens outscored Raptors in the 2nd and 3rd quarters (11-10) and (16-13) but ran out of legs to finish strong, as they were outscored 21-10 in the 4th quarter.




The shocking result of the day was the valiant 63-51 points victory of Coach Dossu Mensah's Warriors Amazon of Ilupeju over the much experienced but match rusty Inspector General of Police Queens. A very edgy first quarter (18-17) followed by an offensive collapse in the 2nd and 3rd quarters (7- 14); (10-14) game the Amazons' what proved to be an unassailable 10 points lead and win. 




Day-4 of the inaugural Dr. & Mrs. D.K Olukoya Women's Basketball Championship at the Teslim Balogun Stadium will start with a battle for runners up behind First Bank in group B for Sunshine Angels as they battle War Queens of Ota at 10:00 am, Delta Force will lock horns with Warriors Amazon at 11:30 am. Raptors will have a tall order to wrap up a second win over First Bank at 1:00 pm and the last game of the day will see IGP Queens try to arrest the Shade Olukoya Girls, MFM at 2:30 PM on Thursday

The Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), Aisha Falode, has again congratulated Naija Ratels following their promotion to the top-flight of the Nigeria Women Football League, the NWFL Premiership. 


Falode, an Executive board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), put a call through to the President of Naija Ratels FC, Barrister Paul Edeh on wednesday, acknowledging the  exceptional display of the team. The number one women Football Administrator in the country also commended the team for their doggedness and team spirit for emerging Champions of the 2021 second tier league. 



In his reactions, Barrister. Edeh appreciated the Aisha Falode-led NWFL for ensuring quality league organisation and great leadership qualities at all times.


The Naija Ratels President, however assured of his team's readiness to abide by the rules and regulations guiding participation at the Nigeria's Women's Apex Football League.


"We are very honoured to hear from you, and most excited to gain promotion to the top flight. Barrister Edeh said. 



"I assure you of our continuous loyalty and support as a Club to the NWFL Board led by you and pledge our commitment to honour our obligations to the league body," 


"We will continue to qmake ourselves, and numerous women football lovers across the country and beyond proud. The personal call and congratulatory message means alot to us and surely  inspire us to do more as a club." He concluded. 



Naija Ratels emerged worthy champions of the 2021 NWFL Championship season, winning three games and drawing one against Adamawa Queens on the last day of the league season.

Naija Ratels President, Barrister Paul Edeh on tuesday honoured a N1.6m cash pledge he made to his team, following their promotion to the NWFL Premiership . 


Barrister Edeh made the fulfilment after his team ended their Championship campaign as winners of the second tier league, with a 1-1 draw against Adamawa Queens, amassing 10 points from four games in the process.


Presenting the Cash reward to the Captain of the team, NFF first Vice President, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi stated that he was satisfied with the standard of game seen at the NWFL Championship, noting that soon, players of Naija Ratels will soon be with various national teams. 

 

"It is a pleasure to help fulfil the pledge of N1.6m by the club chairman to the players. I have no doubt that Naija Ratels will do well in the Premiership and today's achievement is as a result of hardwork and dedication that the players and technical crew have put in place for some time now. 



"Am also proud of the products of Eko football and our dream of developing women football in various stages and state is coming to reality.


Club Chairman, Barrister Paul Edeh who affirmed his determination to help the team achieve even more glories, said it is natural for him to fulfil his promise he made to the team, before the beginning of the league. 


"I am fulfiled and satisfied with what these young girls have been able to achieve. It's not an easy task, but they were determined and played like a team all through the Championship season.


"In addition to the N1.6m pledge, the Head Coach of the team, Bankole Olowookere will also be given a plot of land in Abuja for the great job he has done with the team.


Naija Ratels gained promotion to the NWFL Premiership after playing four Championship games, winning three and drawing just one in the process.
