The young administrator who bagged a triple threats awards with Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Imo Chapter on Thursday noted that the role of sports journalists in nation-building cannot be overlooked hence his huge respect for the revered fourth estate of the realm.

He enjoined the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Imo Chapter to continue to partner with Akarachi Foundation and he further called on them to give more publicity to the 2020/2021 Mbaike Unity Football Tournament which his foundation is sponsoring with over 20 million naira.

Amongst the highest cost is from the publicity committee.

"I am thrilled to have these sports juggernaut in Imo State behind me and I am happy that I am now a Patron of the Association in the State which I know will open more doors.

"The competition is our project and we must all support it. I am very happy to receive the first group in my corporate office that we are trying to bring it up to the expected standards."

"Me and Bright Ahamefula (Secretary, Central Planning Committee (CPC), Mbaike Unity Football Tournament) will devote time to come and look at the office and then consider what we can do. I assure you that the office will get a touch of Akarachi Foundation very soon," he assured.

Barrister Paul Edeh Donates Another 500KVA Transformer To Hausa Community In Otukpo

Barrister Paul Edeh Donates Another 500KVA Transformer To Hausa Community In Otukpo.

The Hausa Community in Otukpo, Benue State on Christmas day, heaved a sigh of relief as Philanthropist and President of Naija Ratels Football Club, Barrister Paul Edeh donated a 500KVA transformer sub-station worth over N7m to boost electricity supply to the area, which has been without power for more than than 11 months.

The event which was held in Otukpo, had in attendance, the Senator representing the good people of Benue South Senatorial district and former Minister of Interior, Senator Abba Moro and some other great son's and daughters of the Idoma Nation.

Speaking after handing over the transformer sub-station to the Christian and Muslim Community of Otukpo, the Legal luminary noted that it was necessary for him to donate the sub-station after he learnt that the community have been without power for close to a year.

The United Nations Peace Ambassador said the new transformer would boost power supply, address the challenges of electricity supply faced by the people and also promote economic activities in the community which was hitherto before then grounded due to the power outage.

"You will recall that today is exactly 166 days since I donated the first transformer to Zone HB Community and a generator set to the Divisional Police Headquarter in Otukpo , which was of course motivated by the fact that they have not had light for a long time. Sadly, i also understand that this same community I donated transformer to, today have not also had light for close to a year with all economic activities grounded.

"When I got that information, almost three months ago, I was hoping and waiting that the authority concerned (Jos Electricity Distribution Company) will do the needful but they didn't. So in on of those days in my hotel room in Uyo, I felt the need to reach out to the community and I made that call around 12 midnight and truly realised they have been in darkness for almost a year and hence, I took the onus to assist them by providing a brand new 500kva transformer.

"Indeed what I did was to build a new substation from the scratch to finish which was done within two weeks and today while celebrating Christmas with the same community, we decided to commision it and it was done by no other person, but Senator Abba Moro.

"Truly, the  Muslim community are the biggest beneficiary of this donation and they were very elated and happy about the development. Infact the Transformer is located beside the St Mary Catholic Church which is adjacent the Central mosque. So I am happy that the Muslim and Christian community benefited from this project.

"The truth is that I  have never been a politician and not all of us must get into politics to make impacts in our community. What is important is having the right mindset and heart  to give back to the society, which is what I am doing. Am glad that for the first time in almost a year, these people will enjoy uninterrupted power supply and that is exactly what pleases my heart as a person." He concluded.

Commissioning the transformer sub-station earlier, the Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District Distinguished Senator Abba Moro commended Barr Paul Edeh for his efforts at complimenting the efforts of the Government by providing another transformer sub-station within a space or 6 months.

He noted that rather than sit in the comfort of his office like many critics who prefer to criticise government for lack of provision of basic amenities, he rather chose to assist his community.

“For the second time within this year I am coming to commission a transformer provided by a son of Idoma land Barrister Paul. Each time Paul tells me I should commission a project, I have never asked him what is actually your motivation. Because when I begin to listen to the story of Paul, it is a story of somebody who denies himself happiness to make the other person happy.

"He is a person who tirelessly works so hard with a hard face to put a smile on the faces of other people. Paul has been a typical example of what I tell people that you don’t have to be in government to help the other person.” Senator Abba Moro stated

The Chairman of the Muslim Youth in the community, Alhaji Aliyu Yinusa thanked Barrister Paul Edeh for coming to their rescue and commended him for keeping the faith with the Muslim and Hausa Community.

"We can't thank Barrister Paul Edeh enough, he has done something that pleases the heart of everyone in this community. We have been without power for almost a year now, and God sent Barrister Paul Edeh to help us out from this difficult situation.

"We shall jealously guard the equipment because we don't want to go back to the days of darkness. He concluded.

Senator Abba Moro commissioned the project and performed the ceremonial switching on of the light which signalled the availability of electricity supply to the community after almost a year with the community going wild with jubilation.

Public-Private Partnership key to sports Development - Minister

*Public-Private Partnership  key to sports Development -  Minister*

Minister of Youth and Sports Development Mr. *Sunday Dare*  has re-affirmed that government alone can not develop sports, insisting that only public, private partnership could  off shoot  sports Development.

According to Mr. *Dare*

"In an Egalitarian society, sports is developed alongside private investors. Look at countries like United kingdom, Jamaica, United States, South Africa and a  host of others that have successfully  done this.

"We need to develop sports deliberately with the help of public, private partnership with Government.  We believe in a holistic sports development which is a total departure from funding sporting competitions  and waiting for the next Olympics, FIFA World Cup, Commonwealth Games or the All Africa Games. But as important as these events  are, they do not equate to sports development. But we came in clearly with the vision of developing a template that speaks to sports development and not just to infrastructures, but also the athletes as well as  the entire gamut of sports.”

The Minister  expressed gratitude to Sir Kesington Adebutu and Alhaji Aliko Dangote for their immense contribution to Sports Development.

"We need to thank these two philanthropists Sir kesington Adebutu and Alhaji Aliko Dangote for their immense contribution towards sports Development. They both  made the rehabilitation  of the National stadium Surelere, and  the Moshood Abiola  Stadium, Abuja possible with the adopt initiative.

"We are also looking at the possibility  of building a mini stadium or township stadium  in each geo-political zone once  we have the money. The  last one  is to ‘Adopt-A-Team’ and we have seen what *Total*  has done for both the Men ‘s and Women’s national Basketball teams,”  *Dare* concluded.

Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Ejidike preaches love, peace at Christmas, New year

Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Ejidike preaches love, peace at Christmas, New year

Nigerians have been admonished to imbibe the spirit of love, care and giving in this period of yuletide even as the nation totters on the precipise of economic depression.

The Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, J.P preached the gospel in his Christmas and new year message .

In a statement made available, Chief Ejidike sounded that the year 2020 recorded worst calamities in death rate, economic progression, health crises that resulted in pandemic, insurgency in form of bandits, herdersmen and farmer clashes, kidnapping and all kinds of vices which almost crumbled the nation .

However, the sports philanthropist said we still have the cause to glorify God who allowed all these tempests.

May your Christmas be graced with peace, joy, and blessings! Merry Christmas to you!

Hope this festive season will bring good luck and good health for you and your family. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

He added that with the ingredients of love as exhibited by God who gave His only begotten son Jesus Christ for redemption of mankind whose birth the world is celebrating, we should show love to one another and peace will reign supreme.

Ejidike prayed "May you receive all that you desire for and dream for. May this Christmas bring you all that you need in life. Merry Christmas! And best wishes for a healthy, happy, and peaceful New Year. "

The Nigeria Pillar of Sports advise that one symbolic lessons of Christmas is preaching love, sharing gifts and care for the less privileged, hence the need for us to be our brother's keeper.

In the world of sports,  he lamented how Covid-19 had stalled all major tournaments and sporting events particularly National Sports Festival and our leagues; however, he said there were few moments of celebration as epitomized by the hard- working Minister of Sports, Hon. Dare Ojo honoured notable sports heroes as well as Nigerian born Anthony Joshua who knocked out Kubrat Pulev to edge closer to dream fight against Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua floors Kubrat Pulev three times in a spiteful and vicious performance that earned him the world title.

It would be recalled that Anthony Joshua brutally knocked Kubrat Pulev out in the ninth round of their world heavyweight championship fight at The SSE Arena, Wembley.

Ejidike counselled sports men and administrator to consider this year as  a year designed by God to teach some moral and spiritual lessons in which case we should learn to give God honour and worship.

He prayed that year 2021 will be a blessing to all.

Bayelsa Queens welcomes FC Robo Queens to the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa on Wednesday evening, in what promises to be a great encounter. Both teams have been excellent of late with back-to-back wins and both teams recorded victory in Lafia against Nasarawa Amazons.

The 'Restoration Ladies' are very strong at home and this will be another great test for them, after a hardfought 2-1 victory against Sunshine Sunshine Queens on matchday one.

#Confluence Queens 🆚 Nasarawa Amazons

Confluence Queens will lock horns with Nasarawa Amazons at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja. The 'Solid Babes' were beaten at home last Wednesday, for the second time this season.

#Delta Queens 🆚 Sunshine Queens

Delta Queens have conceded more goals than any team in the league this season. For them, they have scored 6 goals and conceded 7, meanwhile their opponent on wednesday have conceded twice and scored three times.

The home team had an horrendous game lastweek against Rivers Angels and would be hoping they can redeem themselves infront of their home fans. High flying Dominance Odunbajo and Seun Fakunle of Sunshine Queens have been talking tough ahead of this encounter.

#Edo Queens 🆚 Rivers Angels

This is a South-south derby. Two of the biggest clubsides in the country meets at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin on wednesday evening. The 'Canadian Geese' have proven they can win games after their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Abia Angels last week. They have 3 points while their opponent on Wednesday have only a point, which makes it neccesary for the Moruf Adeyemo side to want valuable points against Royal Queens.

NWFL Championship: Naija Ratels FC Take Over Invincible Angels Slot

NWFL Championship: Naija Ratels FC Take Over Invincible Angels Slot.

NWFL Nationwide side, Naija Ratels FC have acquired the slot of Invicinble Angels in the NWFL Championship after a mutual agreement was reached by the two clubs on Friday evening.

The management of the two Benue State Football sides, confirmed the development to journalists on Friday evening and noted that the deal was a neccesary step to improve the standard of women football in Benue.

Invincible Angels in a statement during the weekend said the agreement was sealed after a thorough discussion between both parties with both Club Chairmen leading the negotiation.

The Chairman of the Gboko based side,  Mr. Chur Jr MichaelRandy noted that the club is aware of the challenges ahead in terms of the new club licensing/documentation policy introduced by the Sports Ministry and the NWFL under the leadership of Aisha Falode.

"We understand we might not be able to cope with the financial terms, club licensing, documentation and other requirements under the new policy of the NWFL.

"This is the reason we thought and agreed mutually that we should give the baton to our sister club, Naija Ratels to finish the race.

"The fact remains that these are two Benue teams and we are glad as a club to play in the NWFL Nationwide in the coming season, while Naija Ratels play in the NWFL Championship.

"We had challenges last year in the Premier League and thought we were going to get help from the Benue State Government, but we never did. Unfortunately things have gotten worse financially with the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world, the best decision was to hand the slot over to a sister club who is capable.

In his remarks the President of Naija Ratels Football Club, Barrister Paul Edeh thanked the management of Invicinble Angels for the opportunity and also made it known that proper documentation as regards the change of status has been done officially by the NWFL.

"When Invincible Angels FC approached us to take their NWFL Championship slot, we received the news with great joy and did not hesitate to accept the offer after mutually agreeing on the terms of the offer. It is worthy of mention that the paper work has been done and the NWFL leadership under the Chairperson of Aisha Falode has since done the change of name and endorsed Naija Ratels FC as a team in the NWFL Championship.

"I want to use this opportunity to thank the Chairman of Invincible Angels FC Mr Chur Jr MichaelRandy for giving us the right to take their slot. I also want to thank the Chairperson of the NWFL Ms Aisha Falode for making the process of our registration seamless.

"I have no doubt that the 2021 season will indeed be a year to be reckoned with as we have continued to prepare assiduously to be victorious in the Championship." He concluded.

Here is the NWFL Premiership team for week two.

#Monle Omini, Bayelsa Queens (Goalkeeper)

The former Tokas Queens, Abia Angels and Confluence Queens goalkeeper enjoyed a very impressive debut for Bayelsa Queens. She was commanding in her box and was also key to helping her side build up from the back.

The 'Restoration Ladies' manager, Moses Aduku decided to use Monle ahead of number one goalkeeper Onyinyechi Okeke and it really did pay off.

#Glory Edet, Confluence Queens, (Right Back).

Edet put in another outstanding display for Confluence Queens against Sunshine Queens in Akure. Though Edet ended up on the losing side, but everything good went through her as far as the 'New Direction' Ladies' are concerned. She played a crucial role in her side conceding less goals and was a constant threat with her energy and reading of the game. A real talent.

#Miracle Joseph, Bayelsa Queens (Left Back)

The former Ibom Angels defender did excellently well in the absence of regular Uzoamaka Igwe. She acted well making sure Nasarawa Amazons forwards had no much breathing space upfront and also linking up well with those ahead of her to great effect.

#Onyebuchi Goodness, Sunshine Queens (Defensive Midfielder)

The Sunshine Queens Captain brought stability to the midfield, supporting Suliat Abideen, while she also looked to carry the ball forward and continually acted as the link between the Midfield and the attack. She finally got rewarded in the game, as she doubled Sunshine Queens lead in the 59th minute.

#Ugo Njoku, Rivers Angels (Centre Back)

Ugo Njoku finally got off the mark in the NWFL Premiership for Rivers Angels for the first time in almost two seasons and she did so in style.

When the teams were announced and Njoku was included by Edwin Okon to play at the Centre-back against Delta Queens, many thought the 'Okowa Ladies' would target her and potentially get a fair amount of success doing so, but it wasn't really the case, as she was calm on the ball and showed alot of experience and didn't look like someone who hasn't played in like two years because of injury.

#Becky Ajadi, Royal Queens (Centre Back).

Ajadi was everywhere on wednesday as Royal Queens defeated Abia Angels 1-0 at the Warri Township Stadium. She was firm at the back and often didn't allow Jane Abraham and others to go past her. The former Saadatu Koko Amazons Captain was voted player of the match.

# Brume Ikhekua, Rivers Angels (Forward).

Rivers Angels talisman was everywhere against her former side Delta Queens, the striker scored a brace and assisted Maryann Ezeanagu to score another. The young striker was topscorer for Delta Queens in 2019 and has started well in her new abode, Rivers Angels.

#Anjor Mary, Bayelsa Queens (Forward)

Anjor Mary is outrageously a good footballer, the 2019 NWFL Premiership player of the season gave a good account of herself against Nasarawa Amazons in Lafia and scored the first goal, just as she did a year ago at the same venue.

#Dominance Odubanjo, Delta Queens (Forward).

Three goals in two games put the young striker ahead of others in this position. She scored against Rivers Angels in the 24th minute. Though her side lost by 6-2, the former Jokodolu Babes striker has found form and time will tell if she is going to continue that way. Great talent.

#Anuoluwapo Salisu, DreamStar Ladies (Central Midfielder).

Two games, two losses, but Anuoluwapo Salisu has been the shining light in her side this season. The young midfielder produced arguably the standout individual performance in the game against Edo Queens at the Agege Township Stadium.

She would be looking forward to getting it right this time around, when they visit Abia Angels in Umuahia on matchday three.

#Monday Gift , FC Robo Queens, (Forward)

The former C.O.D Ladies striker grabbed herself a hat-trick against familiar foe Osun Babes at the Legacy Football Pitch, Surulere, Lagos.

Gift is reaping the rewards for the hard work she continues to put in to improve on her finishing and positioning. Staying more centrally, the striker poses a much greater threat and this showed against Osun Babes as she netted the first hat-trick of the 2021 NWFL Premiership season.

NWFL Premiership Week Two Review, Goalscorers, Photos And More

NWFL Premiership Week Two Review, Goalscorers, Photos And More.

The week two fixtures of the 2021 NWFL Premiership was played across seven centres on Wednesday the 16th of December 2020 and  recorded some great results.

With twenty One goals scored, two away wins recorded, a draw and four home wins in place, www.thenwfl.com brings you reports of week two of the 2021 NWFL Premiership.

FC Robo Queens 3 Osun Babes 1

Monday Gift scored a wonderful hat-trick as FC Robo Queens beat familiar foe Osun Babes 3-1 at the Legacy Football Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere.

Monday, scored her first in the 41st minute, before taking advantage of an error made by Osun Babes Goalkeeper Christiana Obia to score her second in the 52nd minute, before finally completing her hat trick in the 56th minute.

FC Robo will travel down to Yenagoa to face Bayelsa Queens for their week three game, while Osun Babes will welcome Pelican Stars in Osogbo.

Royal Queens 1 Abia Angels 0.

It was a difficult game for Royal Queens at home as they kept searching for a goal until they got it in the 73rd minute through Rosemary Adesina.

It was a frantic match as alot of goal scoring opportunities were not converted from both sides. Jane Abraham had a chance early in the first half to score for Abia Angels, but failed to beat Alamah Onyewee in the Royal Queens goalpost.

The win sees Paul Mene record his first victory in the NWFL Premiership.

Royal Queens will face Ibom Angels in Uyo on matchday three, while Abia Angels welcome Dreamstar Ladies at home.

Dreamstar Ladies 0 Edo Queens 1.

The Galaticas lost their second match of the season when Edo Queens came visiting at the Agege Township Stadium.

Unexpectedly, DreamStar Ladies Captain Juliet Emereole's own goal ensured victory for the Rollandson Odeh's side and the 'Obaseki Girls' will now welcome Rivers Angels nextweek.

Rivers Angels 6 Delta Queens 2.

Brume Ikekhua and Dominance Odubanjo scored twice for their clubs as the 'Jewels of Rivers' recorded a comprehensive victory over neigbours Delta Queens.

It was the second brace for the Delta Queens striker, but her goals couldn't help her side from the rampant Rivers Angels team.

Micheal Angela's own goal made it three for Rivers Angels before Maryann Ezeanagu, Deborah Abiodun and Cynthia Aku scored to make it 6-2.

Delta Queens next game is against Sunshine Queens in Agbor.

Sunshine Queens 2 Confluence Queens 0.

Seun Fakunle and Goodness Onyebuchi both scored at the Ondo State Sports Complex to give Sunshine Queens a comfortable home win over visitors, Confluence Queens.

Fakunle's goal came from a great assist by Akudo Ogbonna early in the 8th minute before captain Goodness Onyebuchi doubled the 'Betty Babes' lead in the 59th minute.

The 'New Direction' Ladies pushed harder late in the second half to half their deficit, but failed to hit the net. Glory Edet was impressive in the game, as she kept pushing and inspiring her teammates from the back. Confluence Queens will welcome Nasarawa Amazons at the Confluence Stadium on Wednesday.

Pelican Stars 1 Ibom Angels 1.

Ogechi Ukwuoma's late goal denied Ibom Angels Manager Moruf Adeyemo his first win of the 2021 NWFL Premiership season as Pelican Stars earned a 1-1 draw at their homeground, U. J Usuene Stadium, Calabar.

Uduakaobong Peter looked to have secured all three points for the 'Orange Ladies' after she scored in the 47th minute, but Pelican Stars continued pressing until they were rewarded late on.

Pelican Stars will travel to Osogbo to face Osun Babes nextweek, while Ibom Angels will be at home to Royal Queens.

Nasarawa Amazons 1 Bayelsa Queens 2

Definitely a dejavu for Nasarawa Amazons Manager Christopher Danjuma losing to Bayelsa Queens by 2-1, same scoreline recorded in 2019. Only that Anjor Mary scored just once this time around in the 24th minute, before Amarachi Okoronkwo equalised in the 55th minute to give the 'Solid Babes' an array of hope in the game but Joy Bokiri's late strike gave the visitors the maximum points.

Perhaps the worst start for Christopher Danjuma since he became head coach of Nasarawa Amazons and will definitely be looking at redeeming his side's battered image when they travel down to the Confluence Stadium to face Confluence Queens nextweek.
