Ogunjobi U-17 Tournament Get February 5 Kick-off Date




Organisers of the of late Chief Taiwo Joseph Ogunjobi U-17 Tournament, Ijesha Football Association in State of Osun have rolled out plans for the hosting of the second edition which kicks off on February 5th to 28th 2021.





In a meeting held recently the Board of football council approved that the 2nd season of the cadet championship be hosted in honour the former Secretary General of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).





Recall Ogunjobi, a former Nigeria international and IICC Shooting Stars of Ibadan legend died on February 10, 2019.





His death, at the age of 65, came 35 years to the day after he made his debut for Nigeria against Morocco in an Olympic qualifier, which in 1984 was not restricted to under-23 sides.





According to Rawlings Oyebayo, Chairman Ijesha Football Council said: "The essence of the age grade tournament which is sponsored by Siji lagunju, Deputy Technical Director of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is to boost the discovery of exceptional talents at the grassroots and catching them young in a bid to provide a well defined future for them."





Oyebayo also outlined the modalities for this year's championship did inform that: "Interested grassroot teams are expected to pay a none refundable fee of Ten Thousand Naira Only (#10,000) as the sale of registration forms began on Monday, 17th of January. 





"With a view to curbing age-cheats, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) has fixed January 31st for player's screening and will would not hesitate to sanction any team found to have presented over-aged players."





The Ijesha Football Council egg-head used the media to appreciate Lagunju who has been the sole sponsor of Ogunjobi U-17 championship and also Tunde Shamsudeen, the Media Officer (2) of the nation's third-tier league, NationWide League One (NLO) for the media mileage provided the tournament.




"We also want to carry everyone and other well meaning personalities along as a formal invitation has been extended to the late Ogunjobi family as regards the programme and also to the late Ogunjobi Foundation through Shamsudeen."

 Adeleke Dynasty Emerge Winners Of The Maiden Edition Of Otunba Isiaka Adeleke Memorial Cup.



Dauda Mutiu was the hero as Adeleke Dynasty emerge the winner of the first Otunba Isiaka Adeleke Memorial Cup, Ede Osun State.


The match which was played at the Federal Polytechnic Ede Football Pitch had the former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as Chairman of the occasion, State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Yemi Lawal, Mrs Dupe Adeleke-Sanni (Mother of the day), Prince Dotun Babayemi, Elder Leere Akogun Oyewunmi and Royal Fathers, Timi of Ede, Oba Minirudeen Lawal, Alara of Ara, Oba Olubayo Adesola Windapo and many other dignitaries in attendance. 


The match was heading for a draw before Tanjo Surprise FC defender upheld Buhari Afeez of Adeleke Dynasty in the 18 yard box. Dauda Mutiu then converted the resulting penalty which made Adeleke Dynasty the maiden champions.



In the third place match played earlier, Eyiowuawi FC Ede defeated Ido-Osun Warriors 6-1 in a one-sided encounter.


Medals and trophy was presented to the Winners ( Adeleke Dynasty Ede), same was done for the second placed team, Tanjo Surprise FC Ejigbo.


Medals and trophy was also given to third place team, Eyiowuawi FC Ede.



For the individual awards,


Azeez Ajagbe of Adeleke Dynasty FC was the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, why Ayoola Azeez and Olanrewaju Habeeb both from Eyiowuawi FC scored 6 goals each to become the highest goal scorer of the tournament.


While Mojeed Lawal of Tanjo Surprise FC was awarded the best defender of the tournament, Akande Wale of Adeleke Dynasty swoop the best goal-keeper award, and the youngest player of the tournament was Saheed Kehinde of Adeleke Dynasty.

 Stage Is Set For Senator Isiaka Adeleke Memorial Cup Semi Final Clashes.



It's getting more intensed and more interesting as Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Cup Reaches Semi Finals stages.


The first semi-final will take place tomorrow between Ido-Osun Warriors and Tanjo Surprise FC, Ejigbo at the Agbonran School of Science Ede by 4pm.


On their way to the semi-finals, Ido Osun warriors defeated Ofatedo United 2-0 while Tanjo Surprise FC Ejigbo scrambled to a 1-0 win over Ogiyan FC


The second semi-final will see two teams from Ede go head to head.


On Monday in Ejigbo, Babatunde Eyiowiawi FC Ede and Adeleke Dynasty FC Ede will battle it out against each other for the most coveted place in the final.


Both teams scored 4 in the semi-finals against their respective opponents and while Adeleke Dynasty conceded two goals, Eyiowuawi FC kept a clean sheet

Iconica FC of Ibadan were outshined by Nigeria National League side (NNL) Gateway United as they fell 5-2 at the M.K.O Abiola Stadium, Ogun State in a Pre-Season Friendly. 


Gateway opened the scoring from a penalty spot but that lasted for three minutes as Adeyemo Emmanuel levelled for Iconica FC. 


 The pressure from Gateway United was too much for the visitors as they conceded yet another penalty. 


The home side went ahead from the second time in the 22nd minute to make it 2-1 and followed up with another in the 30th minute. 





The game looked home and dry as more Gateway United combined so well to score from open play just before half time to conclude an all-action first half in Abeokuta. 


 Iconica FC trio of Idowu Quadri, Adeyemo Emmanuel, Animasaun Teslim pushed forward to restore pride to the Ibadan based team and was rewarded in the 75th minute as they combined so well to make it 4-2. 


The home side put finishing touches to what they began in the first half as they got the fifth for the day to make it 5-2.

Z Expo Championship Kicks Off Friday

 *Z Expo Championship Kicks Off Friday* 




The second edition of Z Expo Championship will kick off on Friday December 18, 2020 at the Sports Complex of Oshogbo Government High School with 32 teams taking part.



Z Expo Championship is sponsored by Shekeenah Zelter Global Concept Ltd and packaged by ITS Football Management (a football business management consultant).



The tournament will be played over 12 days and matches will be decided on knockout basis and will conclude its activities with the finals on Thursday December 31, 2020.



CEO of Shekeenah Zelter Global Concept Ltd, Ibrahim Taofeek Kayode, said the company sponsored the prestigious tournament to the tune of #1m (One Million Naira). 



According to Oro as the philanthropist is fondly called, the aim of the tournament is about investing in the development of sport, ploughing back into the communities and its upliftment.



He further stated that he is sponsoring the tourney to encourage youths to use the beautiful round leather game to get together, build life-long friendships and get to know each other.



The winner of the tournament goes home with a guaranteed giant gold trophy, gold medals and #200, 000 prize money, #100, 000 for runners up and silver medals.

 Otunba Isiaka Adeleke Memorial Football Championship: Ofatedo United Begin On Winning Note



Ofatedo United made the ideal start to the Otunba Isiaka Adeleke Memorial Football Championship by seeing off Awo United in the opening game of the Football tournament hosted in honour of the late political icon and first civilian Governor of Osun State, Otunba Isiaka Adeleke.


Jelili Muritala scored the only goal of the game after receiving a close pass from Asimiyu Ayomide in the 73rd minute of the pulsating encounter. 


The competition which is sponsored by Rep Bamidele Salam, the Federal House of Representatives Member representing the good people of Ede South/North/Egbedore and Ejigbo constituency, got off to a spectacular start with a welcome speech by the sponsor Hon. Bamidele Salam who described the late senator as someone who rendered selfless services to his people and never left them for once. 



"Today we celebrate a man who has a heart of gold and his dreams and aspiration of selfless service to humanity remains undying, but rather blossomed even after his death. 


In her opening remarks, the special guest of honour, Yeye Dupe Adeleke-Sanni thanked the sponsor of the tournament , Hon. Bamidele Salam for honouring her late brother and stated that each passing day keeps him evergreen in the minds of his teeming admirers across the world, as he did alot of philanthropic gestures while still alive.


Ofatedo United were the better side from the blast of the whistle, putting a number of efforts wide off goal and managed to get two shots on target before the interval. 


Just as Awo United were enjoying their best spell in the second half, Ofatedo United took the lead through Muritala. A neat one-two allowed Asimiyu Ayomide to break into the Awo United box before cutting inside his marker and putting Jelili Muritala in a good position to slot in.



The win puts Ofatedo United top of the Egbedore Centre, which includes Ido-Osun Warriors, Ultimate Warriors from Iragberi and Awo United F.C. 


Other centres are the Ede Centre which will play host to Fidelity Soccer Agency, Dynasty FC, Ede, Adiatu Adebayo FC, Akogun FC, Ede Eyiowuawi FC and GFCC Ede North FC. 


Ejigbo Centre includes, Ifesowapo FC, Ejigbo United, Tanjo Surprise FC and Temidire FC.

 Otunba Isiaka Adeleke Memorial Football Championship Kicks Off On Sunday. 





The first edition of the Otunba Isiaka Adeleke Memorial Football Championship will officially commence on Sunday at the Community High School, Ido-Osun from 4pm. 



The tournament which is sponsored by Hon. Bamidele Salam, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Ede North/South/Egbedore/Ejigbo constituency as a mark of tribute to the first executive Governor of Osun State, the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke.



According to an official release from the organisers, 16 teams across Ede, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal constituency will participate in the competition with Awo United and Ofatedo United playing the opening match this Sunday by 4pm.



On his own part, the initiator of the Championship, Barrister Bamidele Salam disclosed that the championship is a key part of the BS-E4 initiative which was launched about a year ago. 


" The competition is dedicated in honour of Otunba Isiaka Adeleke, who was the first executive Governor of Osun State. He was known to be honest, transparent, selfless and contributed immensely to the growth and development of Osun State and Nigeria as a whole. 



"Apart from remembering the legacies of Otunba Isiaka Adeleke, the competition which will involve 16 teams in our constituency will bring up various soccer opportunities for talented young footballers across the state.



The opening ceremony of the competition will start by 3pm, while official kick off is 4pm, special guest of honour is Yeye Dupe Adeleke-Sanni.

 Flying Officers Cup: The Biggest Women Football Pre-Season Championship In Africa. 



Africa's biggest women football Pre-season Championship, the "Flying Officers Cup" ended on Sunday, the 22nd of November 2020 with a lot of funfair and glamour. 


The Championship which started on Monday the 16th of November at the Guards Brigade Stadium, Abuja had five NWFL Premiership heavyweights and three others competing. 



Following the success of the 2019 edition which was held at the Aper Aku Stadium Makurdi, the organisers of the competition, Ratels Sports Foundation deemed it fit to primarily rebrand the tournament and rename it the Flying Officers Cup in honour of the late Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile who lost her life at the age of 24. 


The 2020 edition had defending Champions Edo Queens, 2018 NWFL Premiership Champions, Bayelsa Queens, 2019 AITEO CUP Champions Nasarawa Amazons, Royal Queens, Confluence Queens, Naija Ratels, Honey Badgers and Kaduna Queens all competing for the One Million Naira prize money. 



Ratels Sports Foundations, catered for the accommodation, feeding and general welfare of all the teams during the one week duration and also gave all the teams branded jerseys, giant trophy for the winner for keeps, 10 branded ball each for all participating teams, high premium special awards, such as MVP, Best goalkeeper etc which was presented to players who distinguished themselves at the final, high premium medals was also given to teams. 


Further more, all the 16 games was streamed live and each of the teams that participated were given N60,000, while each of the coaches also went home with N20,000 each. 



In an highly pulsating finals on sunday in Abuja, which was graced by top football administrators such as the Chairperson of the NWFL, Aisha Falode, NFF second Vice-president and LMC Chairperson Mallam Shehu Dikko, the Parents of the late Nigeria first ever female helicopter combat pilot, Tolulope Arotile, Mr and Mrs Akintunde Arotile and lots more has Bayelsa Queens pipped Nasarawa Amazons by a lone goal, scored by Olaiya Barakat in the 16th minute. 


Speaking after the event, the founder of Ratels Sports Foundation and President of Naija Ratels Foot all Club, Barrister Paul Edeh thanked everyone that made the competition a success and also stated that the competition was primarily named after the late Tolulope Arotile who lived an exemplary life and thus rose to become the first female helicopter combat pilot, a feat that is priceless and difficult to come by. 



He further went to say; " The tournament is now an annual event and will continue to be named after her, as a a way of immortalizing the young flying officer whose life and time embodies the spirit of sportsmanship which made it possible for her to set the pace for other aspiring women to join the ranks of Flying Officers in the Nigerian Airforce. Edeh said. 


Also the Chairperson of the NWFL, Aisha Falode, hailed the organisers for pulling out a perfect competition and want them to continue with the success story. 



" This is unprecedented, I am really impressed and hope this will even be better in the coming years. We endorsed this competition because we believe in the ability of Barrister Paul Edeh. His love and passion for the women's game is great.


Mr Akintunde Arotile, Father of the deceased Flying Officer, who was emotional and also grateful to Ratels Sports Foundation for honouring his daughter, described her as a special, talented and brave child. Mr. Arotile went on to say his daughter was a very religious person, who loved to cater for the welfare of the less privileged girl child.



The next edition of the Flying Officers Cup will be held in Benin City, the capital of Edo state in August 2021.

Edo Queens Goalkeeper Sandra Chichi has urged her teammates to create their own history by winning the Flying Officers Cup for the second consecutive year. 


Edo Queens won the Championship last year when it was still known as the Naija Ratels Pre-season Championship and will face a tough opponent in Bayelsa Queens on Saturday afternoon in Abuja. 


The experienced goalkeeper who has been in superb form since returning to football, is hoping to get beyond the Restoration Ladies and book her team a place in the final on sunday evening.  


" This is the start of something great with the team, if we do well here, it means we will have our heads high when the league starts. 


" If we win the competition back to back, it means we have created something unique and that's what we are aiming. 


" It's a Preseason Championship but its also a special competition with alot of glamour and we want to celebrate with funfair at the end.


" They are a good side and we would give our all, as we are more than confident that we would end up triumphant." She concluded.

Bayelsa Queens forward Anjor Mary says she is confident her team will beat defending champions Edo Queens in the first semi-final fixture of the 2020 edition of the Flying Officers Cup.


The 'Restoration Ladies' have shown signs of being a side capable beating anyone on their day and the 2019 NWFL Premiership topscorer isn't mincing words on her optimism. 


"I expect a very difficult game though", She told the Flying Officers Cup Media. 


"We know they are quick and strong upfront, most especially with Taibat Odueke, but we might have an edge tactically and I think we have all what it takes to win the game and get ourselves into the finals.


"As a team, we respect them alot, but won't do that on the pitch. We have only one aim, and that's to get to the finals." She concluded


Bayelsa Queens recorded two draws against Nasarawa Amazons and Confluence Queens but mauled Honey Badgers by 7-0.

The leadership of Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON under the leadership of their president, Hon. Kolade Alabi David has endorsed the Berackiah coaching clinic. Which was able represented by Alhaji Nuhu Ozigi


Speaking after the meeting with ALGON in Abuja today, November 18th, the CEO of Berackiah International, Wonders N. Nduka said all is now within touch for a strategic partnership with the body.   


"We just finished the meeting with the leadership of ALGON concerning the coaching clinic and they have expressed their readiness to partner with us"Nduka claimed.


He stressed that the local government body is willing to train 20 football grassroot coaches each from all local government in the country through the clinic which have been schedule for January 2021


Berackiah coaching clinic is a capacity building programmed aimed at training football coaches with the view to promote football development at the grassroots in Nigeria.



Recall the programme has been billed to hold across the 6 geo-political zones of the federation and will attract experienced and notable football instructors from Italy and Nigeria as resource persons.


The meeting which was said to be a precursors to the final arrangements with ALGON had in attendance some Berackiah International officials namely, Rasheed Saraki, Administrative officer and Segun, Head of Planning.

Confluence Queens attacker Joy Omewa has asked her teammates to put their all as they face Bayelsa Queens on Wednesday afternoon in the ongoing Flying Officers Pre-season Championship in Abuja. 


Omewa has made a really impressive start to life in Lokoja after joining from Osun Babes in 2019.



The 'New Direction' Ladies started off with 2-1 loss to Nasarawa Amazons on Monday and will be looking forward to getting a good result against the Restoration Girls on Wednesday.



" We played so well against Nasarawa Amazons but ended up losing. I wasn't really happy about it and thought we should have won. 



" My teammates and I put in our best, but I think we can all do better against Bayelsa Queens than we did against Nasarawa Amazons.

Naija Ratels Manager, Bankole Oloowokere has noted that his side's emphatic victory against Kaduna Queens will give the team confidence ahead of games against Royal Queens and Edo Queens. 


Olowookeere who remains modest despite his team's 5-0 mauling of Kaduna Queens, admitted during the week that his team is young and just gathering momentum, but definitely won't be pushovers. 



"We are building a new team and am sure you know it will take some time before we have a near perfect team. He told Flying Officers Cup Media. 


"I have told the players not to get carried away with our victory against Kaduna Queens, eventhough I think it will spur us to do more against both Edo Queens and Royal Queens.

Debutants Gombe United got their Ogunjobi Gold Cup campaign off in a flying start after they put two goals past FC Ebedei in the opening game of the nation's prestigious pre-season tourney which kicked off in Ilorin, Kwara State on Thursday.




It took the Savannah Scorpions nine minutes to register their first ever goal in the tourney from open play.




Mohammed Husain got rewarded for his brilliant work as he beat a school boy FC Ebedei defence and rounded off goalkeeper  Ugbor Mark to put the ball into the net.





Gombe United then defended well as they held on to their first half lead.




The Oliseh Boys were impressive in the start of the second half as they kept the pressure in search for an equalizing goal.




Victor Gabriel should have leveled scores for FC Ebedei in the 67th minute after his effort of the ball  rattled the woodwork with fierce strike from a set piece.




Five minutes later,  Mark produced one of the best performance of the game after he made a world class save to deny Gombe Utd a second goal.





Mark had his sharp reflexes to thank as he parried Sulaimon's ferocious shot to the corner to earn a standing ovation from both bench.




It was little too late for the Oliseh Boys as in the 92nd minute, Yusuf Azeez put the icing on the cake after beating his marker to slice the ball into the net.

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has officially endorsed the Flying Officers Cup, scheduled to begin in Abuja on Monday, the 16th of November 2020. 


The women football league body gave it's backing to the foremost Nigeria women's football Pre-season competition on wednesday through a letter signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Mrs Faith Ben-Anuge. 


In the letter of endorsement, Faith Ben-Anuge wrote: " We kindly write to inform you of the NWFL board endorsement of the  Flying Officers Cup Preseason Championship scheduled to hold from Monday, 16th of November at the Guards brigade Sporting Complex, Asokoro, Abuja. 


"We task the organisers to ensure maximum compliance with guidelines on football activities as being explained by the Nigeria Football Federation."



Reacting to the competition's endorsement, Barrister Paul Edeh, the founder of Ratels Sports Foundation, thanked the NWFL for it's support, while also noting that all COVID-19 guiding protocols will be fully observed at the Preseason Championship. 


" The official endorsement by the NWFL, the body charged with overseeing the various Nigeria Women Football Leagues for this year's edition is a testament that women football lovers should expect nothing but the best in terms of women football and we can only but pledge to abide by the rules of the game, in terms of officiating, players conduct and also abiding by the COVID-19 rules on and off the pitch." Edeh said. 


Eight teams across all tiers of the Nigeria Women Football Leagues are expected to participate in the competition. 


The Flying Officers Cup formerly known as the Naija Ratels Pre-season Championship will kick off on Monday, the 16th of October 2020.

Ogunjobi Gold Cup defending champions, Niger Tornadoes and other teams 36 Lions, Gombe United, Remo Stars, FC Ebedei, Ekiti United have all arrived Ilorin venue for the 8th edition of the Ogunjobi Gold Cup which kicks off on Thursday.



Nation-Wide League One (NLO) team, 36 Lions were the early bird as they arrived the State of Harmony on Sunday. The number of teams increased on Tuesday, with all the participating teams checking into the respective hotels they had made reservations with a view to beat the jet lag owing to the long travel to Ilorin.




General Coordinator of the county's most glamourious and prestigious pre-season club tourney, Tunde Shamsudeen said: "Glad no team experienced any challenges as it was safe travels for them all. 



" Like every passionate fan and teams in the domestic game in Nigeria, there is that feeling of togetherness when the day to kick off the season comes. We are excited as the wait is finally over, so we're set to witness the first round of matches of the tourney.



"Let me use this medium to remind our fans that none will be allowed into the Main Bowl of the Kwara State Sports Complex owing to the laid down protocols of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), as it bids to curb the spread of the novel COVID-19 virus.




"Going a step further, fans can still watch all Ogunjobi Gold Cup matches online as we'll be live streaming and also fans can listen to match commentries and analyses on sportflamesradio.com."



Gombe United and FC Ebedei will kick off the pre-season with the first game of Day One at the Kwara State Sports Complex, Ilorin Main Bowl at 8 a.m.

The former Super Eagles attacker has been made the ambassador for the Berackiah football coaching clinic.


Speaking on the development, the CEO of Berackiah International, Mr Wonders N. Nwigwe said the choice of the ex international was borne out of his passion for football development.


Nwigwe who commended the  striker for identifying with the project, expressed optimism that the programme will chart a new course for football development in the country.



"We are very pleased to make Obinna the ambassador of the project. He's an inspiration to the younger generation and having served the country in the past with all his ability, we can't but  bring him on board now that we also want to expand the horizon of football through our coaching clinic", the sport administrator said.


Meanwhile, Mr Rasheed Ola Saraki the chief admin officer of the  programme made it known that the clinic has been scheduled to hold from December 2020 to January 2021. The clinic aimed at equipping grassroots coaches in the country with the basis and basics of the dug-out business with the aims of building their capacity as they tend to developing talents.


Also, the clinic in partnership with the Nationwide League One (NLO) has been endorsed by the Nigeria Football Federation, with a view to enhance football development at the grassroots level.



The coaching seminar will hold in all geo-political zone of the federation with one location in each zone- namely, Sagamu, Ogun State, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, Enugu, Enugu state, Bauchi in Bauchi state, Kaduna in Kaduna state and Abuja, the federal capital territory
