Tebo Franklin eyes Adamawa United scalp

Nasarawa United FC center back, and man of the match award winner in the Match Day 3 duel of the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL, against Kano Pillars FC, Tebo Franklin has sent a message of hope to the fans of his side, that the team maintains absolute focus as they visit Adamawa United FC in their next fixture in Gombe.

The fearless energetic defender who spoke to news men on his team's arrival in Gombe, stated that they are in Gombe State for a mission against Adamawa United FC, hence the need to stay focused and determined, adding that this particular fixture last season was a bitter pill to his side.

"We're in Gombe for a mission, so we're staying focused and determined, said Franklin, who recorded his first NPFL assist in his side's away win at Heartland on Match Day 2.

"We left Gombe empty handed last season when we met with Adamawa United FC, but this time we're ready to prove a point.

The Solid Miners are currently enjoying one of their best starts to a season in recent times, picking 7 points from a possible 9, and Franklin believes the quality of the team's technical crew led by coach Bala Nikyu, has greatly impacted on the team both in character and performance.

"Our technical crew has been excellent so far, and they're responsible for the output of the entire team, he said.

"They've always given us reasons to face each game at a time, with determination and discipline, concluded Franklin.

Gombe Utd Humbles FC Ebedei 2-0 In Ogunjobi Gold Cup Opener

Gombe Utd Humbles FC Ebedei 2-0 In Ogunjobi Gold Cup Opener

Debutants Gombe United got their Ogunjobi Gold Cup campaign off in a flying start after they put two goals past FC Ebedei in the opening game of the nation's prestigious pre-season tourney which kicked off in Ilorin, Kwara State on Thursday.

It took the Savannah Scorpions nine minutes to register their first ever goal in the tourney from open play.

Mohammed Husain got rewarded for his brilliant work as he beat a school boy FC Ebedei defence and rounded off goalkeeper  Ugbor Mark to put the ball into the net.

Gombe United then defended well as they held on to their first half lead.

The Oliseh Boys were impressive in the start of the second half as they kept the pressure in search for an equalizing goal.

Victor Gabriel should have leveled scores for FC Ebedei in the 67th minute after his effort of the ball  rattled the woodwork with fierce strike from a set piece.

Five minutes later,  Mark produced one of the best performance of the game after he made a world class save to deny Gombe Utd a second goal.

Mark had his sharp reflexes to thank as he parried Sulaimon's ferocious shot to the corner to earn a standing ovation from both bench.

It was little too late for the Oliseh Boys as in the 92nd minute, Yusuf Azeez put the icing on the cake after beating his marker to slice the ball into the net.
