Azubogu condemns attack on 'Walk For Life' sports event of PDP Governorship aspirant, Valentine Ozigbo, in Nnewi




Leading Governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr Chris Azubogu has condemned the attack on 'Walk For Life' sports event of PDP Governorship aspirant, Valentine Ozigbo, in Nnewi this Saturday morning.



Azubogu, in a statement through his Media Office, while condemning the barbaric destruction of the stage and facilities put in place for the sports event of Ozigbo, asked the security agencies to immediately swing into action and arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book.*




Azubogu who would have been part of the ‘Walk For Life’ event in Nnewi, his hometown, if not for his scheduled ongoing LGA tour, was already on his way to Awka North LGA when he received the news of the attack.




The member representing Nnewi North/Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, on hearing about the attack, placed a call to Mr Ozigbo, stating also in a message that such behaviour does not represent Ndi Nnewi or PDP.




The message read: "My brother Val, I just read on the media of the condemnable act which in no way represents our party or our people. I stand with you to ensure that the culprits are brought to book. Just to assure of our regards Chris Azubogu."

 Senator Isiaka Adeleke Memorial Cup Reaches Quarter-Final Stage With Exciting Scorelines. 




The Senator Adeleke Memorial Cup Ede Osun State entered the Quarter finals stages today with matches in two venues.


At the Ido Osun venue, Ido Osun Warriors defeated Ofatedo United 2-0.


The first half of the encounter produced no fire works as both teams played as if nothing was at stake, but the second was totally different with tackles flying in from different angles and end to end attacking football from both teams gave the fans joy and it didn’t take long for Ido Osun Warriors to break the deadlock less than 10 minutes into the restart when Hammed Sanusi of Ofatedo United forced the ball into his own net while trying to defend a goal bound effort.


Less than 7 minutes later, Isiak Ibrahim scored a beautiful free-kick at the edge of the box to give Warriors a 2 goal lead.


Ofatedo United then dominated proceeding and dictated the pace of the game but lackluster display upfront means they could only manage one short on-target in the second half.



Ido Osun Warriors also came close to extending their lead towards the end of the match but a moment of brilliance from the defense of United saved them from what could’ve been an embarrassing evening.


With the result, Ido Osun Warriors have now progressed to the semi-finals and will await tomorrow’s quater-final matches to know their next opponent.


At Ejigbo center, Tanjo Surprise FC Ejigbo defeated Ogiyan FC Ejigbo by a lone goal.


The quarter-finals fixtures continues tomorrow as GFCC Ede North takes on Adeleke Dynasty why Adiatu Adebayo FC tackles Alhaji Babatunde Eyiowuawi FC for a place in the semi-finals.

 Otunba Isiaka Adeleke Memorial Football Championship Kicks Off On Sunday. 





The first edition of the Otunba Isiaka Adeleke Memorial Football Championship will officially commence on Sunday at the Community High School, Ido-Osun from 4pm. 



The tournament which is sponsored by Hon. Bamidele Salam, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Ede North/South/Egbedore/Ejigbo constituency as a mark of tribute to the first executive Governor of Osun State, the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke.



According to an official release from the organisers, 16 teams across Ede, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal constituency will participate in the competition with Awo United and Ofatedo United playing the opening match this Sunday by 4pm.



On his own part, the initiator of the Championship, Barrister Bamidele Salam disclosed that the championship is a key part of the BS-E4 initiative which was launched about a year ago. 


" The competition is dedicated in honour of Otunba Isiaka Adeleke, who was the first executive Governor of Osun State. He was known to be honest, transparent, selfless and contributed immensely to the growth and development of Osun State and Nigeria as a whole. 



"Apart from remembering the legacies of Otunba Isiaka Adeleke, the competition which will involve 16 teams in our constituency will bring up various soccer opportunities for talented young footballers across the state.



The opening ceremony of the competition will start by 3pm, while official kick off is 4pm, special guest of honour is Yeye Dupe Adeleke-Sanni.
